This I am already working to remedy, to create more side content and open world content specifically for the early game. So chapter 1 is where people spend the most time exploring (cuz the world is great for that), but there is the least amount of side content (things are locked until later). So the end-game content is by far the most varied and epic, but for many players that is too far away and they just float around in a very laid back chapter 1.
I made the mistake to slowly ramp up the diversity and more exciting stuff in later chapters. Which is being generally received very well, but again that is always a matter of taste.Īnother criticism is that the game hasn't got enough side mission variety (the main storyline is about 10-12 hours of gameplay). There are also quite dark themes and definitely art-game ambitions in the game. But If you are more into a comfortable popcorn experience that is challenging but has perfect flow and onboarding, then perhaps the falconeer might not click.
In the end the common compliment I get that it does evoke that crimson skies feeling (something I'm quite proud off), and if you are into that, it will likely click. And like the games of yore gives you a beefy intro to the mechanics and world. The physical copy contains the full game guide that introduces the world, enemies, upgrades and weapons etc etc.
THE FALCONEER LENGTH MANUAL
There is a manual available online here tho.: Being developed by only one dev (myself) it has been a matter of making tough choices. The main critique I find valid, is that the game does not do a lot of handholding. But the controls have been lauded as smooth and enjoyable, and if you are more into the story and so forth, there is a difficulty slider.
That said air combat can be challenging, and it's an acquired taste for sure. Some reviewers noted difficulty spikes, and this was the case the review code pre-patch but has since been balanced.
